Barbara creates marbled paper and collaged blank notecards using vintage papers and ephemera. Paper marbling is a one-off process. Paint floats on a water bath, with designs drawn through with large combs. When paper is laid on the water’s surface, the design in paint is transferred onto the paper.
The collaged cards are simply a matter of putting any number of things together on the card to make a pleasing whole. It’s always serendipity.
My papers are found in a handful of shops and galleries in Eastern Iowa. I’ve given marbling demonstrations in the past at Iowa Artisans Gallery, The Octagon Shop in Ames, and the Cateri Art Gallery in Amana. I’ve participated in art markets at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and at Mt. Mercy University.
