Press Release- Altarpiece for the World
GAIA (noun): the hypothesis that the living and nonliving components of earth function as a single system in such a way that the living component regulates and maintains conditions (such as the temperature of the ocean or composition of the atmosphere) so as to be suitable for life and this system is regarded as a single organism.
NASA’s global watch states this: The effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible on the timescale of people alive today, and will worsen in the decades to come.
Kline-Misol’s recent work is a four panel Polyptych quoting the prophetic words in 1854 of a Suquamish Native American leader, predicting the disasters that are happening today.
In April the gallery will be collaborating with the Upper Mississippi River Initiative to host exhibits, book signings and gallery talks addressing the current water quality issues, rapid species extinctions, and dangerous destabilization of the earths ‘s climate. The gallery will celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22 with artists reception from 5-9PM.
